Gabriel Scarlett

Head of Modelling and Testing

Gabriel has a PhD in Marine Engineering and a MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Renewable Energy, both from the University of Edinburgh. His expertise in fluid mechanics and numerical methods led to the development of specialist software for ocean engineering applications. During his PhD he built a numerical model to investigate the unsteady hydrodynamics of tidal turbine blades during waves and turbulence. These have been used to unravel for the first time the unsteady hydrodynamics along the span of a full-scale tidal turbine blade.
